Mold Remediation/Removal

&qu

MOLD-OUT follows the leading industry guidelines for mold remediation procedures:

  • IICRC S520,Standard and Reference Guide for Mold Remediation
  • Bioaerosols: Assessment and Control (American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists)
  • IICRC S500, Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration)
  • Mold Remediation in Schools and Commercial Buildings (EPA)

Mold Removal - Mold Remediation

At MOLD-OUT we offer mold removal services without the use of harmful and toxic chemicals (these don't work anyway and are a short cut to proper clean up).  Proper mold remediation involves removal of growth areas as well as proper clean up of aerosolized and settled mold spores.  We always remove or clean mold with full containment procedures so that no spreading of dust and mold spores occur.
Since the majority of mold growth problems tend to hide inside wall, ceiling or floor cavities and are not always visible, it is important to figure out the extent of the mold growth issue and it's location.  In addition, airborne mold spores are invisible to the naked eye and require a proper assessment and removal to avoid future mold re-growth.
A water leak in a bathroom or basement wall is not enough information to determine the extent of the problem and where 'containment' needs to be installed.  Successful mold removal jobs begin with a thorough 'mold assessment'.  A mold assessment involves a visual inspection, instrumentation survey for moisture and air quality as well as laboratory sampling of surfaces and air testing.
This provides us with information on what areas are affected, the seriousness of the infestation and where the mold spores are in the home. Only with this information we can provide a reasonable quote and scope of work on mold removal.  In most cases, having a mold assessment done first can save you money on the removal portion since containment can be installed for the necessary areas.  Setting up containment for an entire basement or guessing where the mold growth is, usually results in additional clean up costs.
Please note we are unable to provide reasonable quotes on mold removal without a mold assessment.
Because of the care we take in ensuring no spores and dust leave our work area, homeowners are able to remain in the home while mold remediation is undertaken (in most cases).

Mold Assessment and Remediation (as per quotation on case by case basis)
This involves the return of the affected area to a 'normal' condition or fungal ecology similar to non affected indoor areas:
Complete containment of affected areas including de-containment chambers
HEPA filtered negative pressurization of containment area
Removal and disposal of non salvageable building materials showing mold growth
Cleaning of mold growth and spores from salvageable building materials
Removal of airborne mold spores in the affected area via HEPA air scrubbers
Cleaning and removal of settled mold spores from contained area via HEPA vacuuming
Collecting debris ....
Did you know?
You can have mold growth in your home that has been there for years without smelling it.
There are only a few species of mold that produce a scent that is detectable by humans.
Did you know?
Using biocides or bleach to kill mold does not have any advantages.  Dead mold is just as toxic as mold that is alive.
Did you know?
The most difficult part about mold in a building is finding it.  Most mold growth is hidden inside walls, ceilings or floors.
Did you know?
Most of the labor involved in removing mold is not actually the removal of the growth.  Most of the skill and work is setting up proper pressurized containment to protect the rest of the building and removing airborne mold spores.  Disturbing mold growth causes billions of microscopic mold spores to become airborne.
